With the kind and generous help of a private donor, the Boston Vegan Association is beginning a new outreach initiative. Effective immediately, the BVA will begin wholly funding the printing and distribution of its full-color 'Respecting Animals' pamphlet to qualifying advocates throughout North America.

We (the BVA) are asking interested groups and persons to read and complete an application form (see below). The form asks for some detail regarding the nature of your initiatives and goals, your proposed uses of the pamphlets, and other related matters. Additionally, the form asks that you carefully read, and accept where appropriate, a series of conditions related to your potential uses of the pamphlets.

Although our funds for this project are substantial, they are not unlimited. We also don't wish to waste money or resources. Further, since the BVA is a strictly abolitionist vegan organization, we are committed to particular forms of advocacy work. For these reasons, we may not be able to distribute free literature to all persons or groups. We are committed to funding the printing and distribution of the pamphlet to any vegans and vegan advocacy organizations whose work is consistent with our methodology. Your completion of the following form will assist us in making decisions about where to focus our resources.

If you are interested in continuing with the application process, please carefully read and complete the following form. (It should go without saying, but please make sure you've read through the pamphlet before applying.)

Read the following conditions carefully and click 'I Agree' where appropriate. Please only agree to the conditions which you are confident that you will be able to satisfy.

  1. These 'Respecting Animals' pamphlets will be distributed only to individuals with whom I/we have spoken (i.e., had a conversation with) about veganism and animal rights.

     I agree

Explanation: The BVA pamphlets are designed to be used as tools to assist in abolitionist vegan outreach work, rather than as standalone documents. They are not written so as to be used in a 'scattershot' method (i.e., handed out to random passersby to whom one has not spoken) or to be left as 'pick ups' at public locations. Additionally, the BVA does not have the resources to fund the printing and distribution of pamphlets which are used so liberally.

  2. These 'Respecting Animals' pamphlets will be used only in outreach work which explicitly promotes veganism and which does not endorse any initiatives, campaigns, lifestyles or diets which are not wholly vegan.

     I agree

Explanation: The BVA believes that veganism is a moral baseline for a legitimate animal rights movement and rejects as illegitimate any forms of advocacy which promote or accept 'vegetarianism,' 'humane' animal use, etc.

  3. Before distributing these 'Respecting Animals' pamphlets alongside non-BVA literature, I will first seek the approval of the BVA.

     I agree

Explanation: Most other popular documents (including most that appear to promote veganism) conflict with the messages contained in 'Respecting Animals'. However, if you would like to distribute 'Respecting Animals' alongside Gary Francione's literature, you do not need to seek our approval first.

  4. After having used the 'Respecting Animals' literature in my/our advocacy work on a number of occasions, I/we will complete the BVA's 'Respecting Animals' Feedback Form. (Link to the feedback form will be sent to you)

     I agree

Explanation: The BVA is seeking to continue refining and revising our 'Respecting Animals' document. Your feedback is crucial to this process.

  5. If my/our resources allow, I/we will send the BVA one or more digital photos of 'Respecting Animals' being used in my/our advocacy work.

     I agree

Explanation: Seeing our pamphlet being put to good use is exciting, fun, and educational. And, with your permission, we may use these pictures publicly (e.g. on the BVA's website) in the future.
